“The District Clerk’s Office is sorely in need of the seasoned, mature leadership that Marilyn Burgess will provide. She will restore integrity to the office. She will provide the strong administrative guidance required to usher in the age of all-electronic filing.“

Bill Murphy, former Head of Communications at the Harris County District Clerk′s Office

Harris County District Clerk – What is that? What do they do? It is the office of the record keeper for the County Courts, handles funds related to cases, coordinates jury panel selection process, and so much more behind the scenes for our judicial system.

The right person for the job is Marilyn Burgess. She has strong management, financial, and organizational skills. I have known her for about four years and have admired her strong work ethic and her moral compass. As a CPA, she brings financial expertise, integrity, and honesty. As an involved citizen, she has volunteered with the PTA at a local level, and eventually became executive director of the Texas PTA.

Harris County is bigger than half the states in the United States in population and finances. This requires a leader with the skills of Marilyn Burgess. She’s got my vote. Please give her yours.

Josie Salmon Robinson

“I endorse Marilyn Burgess for District Clerk. I only met her during this cycle, but like Diane Trautman she’s been out there campaigning for months, and she has great credentials for this office. All three of her opponents entered the race in the last days of the filing period. Two have no web presence – one was a candidate for SBOE in 2016, and had no web presence then, either – and one has a mostly unreadable website. District Clerk is – or at least should be – one of the least political elected offices out there. It’s about doing a straightforward information management job. I have faith Marilyn Burgess can do that job, and I’m voting for her.”

Charles Kuffner of Off the Kuff

“I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Marilyn Burgess for more than 15 years, and I can honestly say she is one of the hardest working people I’ve ever met. I met Marilyn when she served as President of the North Houston-Greenspoint Chamber of Commerce and witnessed first-hand her ability to bring business and community people together around a common cause.

“I have served my Aldine community in different capacities over the years including as president of my civic association (Imperial Valley), Board Trustee for Aldine ISD, and currently as an elected member of the Lone Star College Board of Trustees. I have also served as Democratic precinct chair (423), and as vice-chair of the Harris County Tejano Democrats.

“I believe Marilyn exemplifies the leadership, integrity and expertise required to serve as Harris County Clerk. It is for this reason that I endorse her candidacy for this critical position in county government.”

Art Murillo, Lone Star College Board of Trustees, former Board Trustee for Aldine ISD, former President of Imperial Valley Civic Association, former Precinct 423 chair, and former Vice-Chair of the Harris County Tejano Democrats

“I’m supporting Marilyn Burgess as she’s the most qualified for the job!”

Charlene Shafer, Precinct 173 Chair

“Marilyn Burgess is what Harris County needs for the office of District Clerk.”

Jason Nerie

“I endorse Marilyn Burgess for Harris County District Clerk because she has experience leading organizations, including serving for four years as the Executive Director of the Texas PTA, as well as being a Certified Public Accountant.  She is competent, accurate, organized, and capable.  We need Marilyn Burgess to bring order to our county government.”

Marie Dobay, Precinct 189 Chair

“When I found out that Marilyn was running for District Clerk, I was overjoyed.  The District Clerk’s office is responsible for the safekeeping of so many important records, including those involving family matters, as well as the fair and equitable treatment of selecting juries.  We need an intelligent, capable, progressive-minded person to represent us, and Marilyn far exceeds those expectations.  It is with great enthusiasm that I endorse her candidacy for District Clerk in this election.”

Erik Manning, treasurer of the Sharpstown Democrats, member of the HCDP Communications Committee, founder of the Houston Area Progressive Network, and curator of the HCDP Blue Report

“Marilyn would serve the people well as Harris County District Clerk. She has the experience, competency, diligence, and intelligence to make our government function as we would like to function.”

Christopher Herron, Harris County Precinct 964 Chair

“With your strong organizational skills, dedication to hard work and can do attitude I believe you would be the best candidate for this position.”

Rufi Natarajan, HCDP volunteer, Chair for Sustaining Memberships, Finance Committee member, and Asian American Pacific Islander Committee member

“Congratulations on taking the plunge! I wish you the very best luck with your campaign!!”

James Canup, Development Director at Annie′s List

“As Precinct Chair for #760 I am proud to support Marilyn Burgess for County Clerk!”

Kevin McManis, Precinct Chair for #760 and immediate past president of Kingwood Area Democrats

“You would be an outstanding District Clerk. Your background, experience, work ethic and dedication to public service make you the ideal person for the position of District Clerk.”

Cathy Gottselig

“Harris County needs Marilyn Burgess for District Clerk.”

Kathy A. Eads

“Marilyn Burgess is a WIN for Harris County District Clerk!”

Michelle Michon

“Very excited about your decision to run–can’t imagine anyone more qualified or anyone I would rather see representing the people of Harris County!”

Pamela Reiland

“This is excellent news indeed, Marilyn!!”

Janice Stooksberry

“That’s great! I wish you the best.”

Linda Luehrs Wolfe

“She’s one for the people; for the taxpayer. There is too much wasteful spending within the incumbent’s administration, and I fully believe Marilyn Burgess will put an end to this!”

Christopher Moore

“The candidate with the right platform and experience”

Noah M. Horwitz

“She is the best candidate!”

Rev. Krejchi Hester

“She is very competent and cares about people and issues. She has a lot of integrity and decency – exactly what we need.”

Bud Karachiwala

“She has the experience, skills, and background that make her the most qualified candidate.”

Nancy Friedman

“Marilyn is an accomplished professional who will put her financial and administrative talents to work in the District Clerk’s office.  She will streamline the business processes so that the Office runs like a well-oiled machine thus saving taxpayers money while getting the job done.”

Marjorie S. Landry

“When I researched the candidates prior to the primary election I found that Marilyn had the right financial background to be the Harris County District Clerk.”

Linda St. Pierre
